From .com to .anything: introducing Top-Level Domain (TLD) insights on Cloudflare Radar
Cloudflare Radar has launched a dedicated Top-Level Domain (TLD) insights page, extending its TLD data from scattered datasets to a unified view that highlights popularity, activity, and security for delegated TLDs across its services. The page uses a DNS Magnitude metric, calculated from queries observed at Cloudflare’s 1.1.1[.]1 resolver, to rank TLDs by reach and visibility, with the table listing the top 2,500 TLDs and the option to view dedicated pages for individual TLDs.
In the current overview, the top of the DNS distribution remains dominated by .com, which tops the ranking with more than 60% of queries, followed by .net, .arpa, and .org. The article notes that the top TLD by magnitude is .su, a legacy Soviet-era domain, which sees more unique networks over a seven-day window, and it adds that over half of its queries come from the United States, Germany, and Brazil.
As of October 2025, Cloudflare reports over 1,400 valid TLD entries in ICANN’s list, and Cloudflare Registrar now supports over 400 TLDs, with plans to add further insights into TLD name server performance in 2026, according to ICANN.
