Crash Tests for Security: Why BAS Is Proof of Defense, Not Assumptions

Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) is pitched as the crash test for enterprise security, proving which attacks your defenses can stop in practice rather than relying on theoretical blueprints or dashboards alone. The Blue Report 2025 provides crash test data from 160 million adversary simulations, revealing that prevention dropped from 69% to 62% in one year, and that 54% of attacker behaviours generated no logs.

It also shows that only 14% of events triggered alerts, and data exfiltration was stopped just 3% of the time. In practical business terms, BAS helps CISOs reduce noise and focus on exposures that matter, turning intimidating data into a validated risk picture. The article highlights concrete improvements BAS can drive: backlogs of 9,500 CVSS “critical” findings shrinking to 1,350 exposures proven relevant, mean time to remediate falling from 45 days to 13, and rollbacks decreasing from 11 per quarter to 2.

This culminates in a shift from posture to proof, according to Blue Report 2025, with BAS acting as the continuous engine for security validation and executive confidence.
