From Teen Hacker to Cyber Defender: Tal Kollander’s Journey

Tal Kollander, a hacker-turned-cybersecurity expert from Tel Aviv, emphasizes the moral distinctions among hackers: 'white hats' report vulnerabilities ethically, 'black hats' exploit them for personal gain, and 'grey hats' oscillate between both. Growing up curious about technology and gaming, Kollander transitioned from hacking for fun to serving in the Israeli Defense Forces, where she learned to protect infrastructure.

She later founded the cybersecurity firm Remedio, focusing on understanding hacker behavior to prevent breaches. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to using hacking skills for positive impact, advocating that often, individuals in cybersecurity have the capacity for goodness, shaped by their environments.
