ACCORDING to Zack Whittaker (of TechCrunch and this week in security fame), security researchers and journalists have faced a range of threats that warranted a productive data-gathering approach. DataBreaches[.]net launched a pilot survey to raise awareness and spur more research into the risks these individuals encounter reporting on cybercrime and cybercriminals. The survey ran from 20 December to 18 January, and the site has now analysed some of the data from 112 respondents and produced initial findings.
To support the topic, DataBreaches now has a new news category called “Threats,” which will compile research or news items about threats researchers and journalists face. Read the report, Under Pressure: Exploring the effect of legal and criminal threats on security researchers and journalists, in HTML or download the PDF version to dive into the preliminary conclusions.
