Announcing Workers automatic tracing, now in open beta

Cloudflare announces Workers automatic tracing, now in open beta, enabling OpenTelemetry-compliant traces with no code changes or manual setup. The feature automatically instruments all I/O operations in Workers through workerd, and traces can be viewed in the Cloudflare dashboard alongside existing logs. Users can export traces to OpenTelemetry-compatible providers such as Honeycomb and Grafana, and OTLP-formatted logs can be correlated with traces for easier debugging.

Pricing for tracing starts free at beta, with a planned change on 15 January 2026 when tracing and log events will be charged; viewing traces in the dashboard is available on the Workers Free and Paid plans, while exporting traces requires a Workers Paid subscription. To get started, developers are directed to the documentation and to the GitHub discussion for feedback during the beta. according to The Cloudflare Blog, published on 28 October 2025.
