Hack exposes Kansas City, Kansas, Police’s secret officer misconduct list

A DataBreaches[.]Net report dated 5 November 2025 reveals that documents hacked from the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department show a secret corroborated list of officer misconduct, described as including dishonesty, sexual harassment, excessive force and false arrest.

The piece notes that in 2011 an undercover sting, Operation Sticky Fingers, with help from the FBI, led to three SCORE officers being filmed stealing items and subsequently fired and federally charged, while a fourth officer, Jeff Gardner, was later identified as a potential credibility risk.

According to WIRED Magazine and KCUR, the department’s Giglio List, or Veracity Disclosure List, was used to flag officers whose credibility might jeopardise prosecutions, and Gardner remains employed by the department along with 61 other current and former officers deemed to have seriously impacted credibility. The article highlights that the discovery comes from a major hack of the KCKPD and underscores the hidden nature of the misconduct roster. Gardner did not respond to comment requests.
