FBI ‘aware’ of Anchorage health clinic data breach as hackers claim 60K patients impacted

The FBI is aware of the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center data breach after hackers claimed they had leaked a total of 60,000 patient records. According to FBI Anchorage Public Affairs Officer Chloe Martin, the agency “takes allegations of this nature seriously” but cannot confirm or deny the existence of an investigation, or provide status updates unless charges are filed.

The report notes that the incident had not yet appeared on ransomware groups’ darkweb leak sites, though one affected patient said her personal information was included in an email from the hackers. It remains unclear whether the hackers intended direct extortion or to pressure the clinic to make payments. The piece also references prior reporting of an additional 50,000 patient records claimed by the same hackers, alongside the earlier claim of 10,000 records, as part of the developing story.
