Chainguard Raises $280 Million in Growth Funding
Chainguard announced last week that it has raised $280 million in a growth funding round from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund (CVF), according to SecurityWeek. The Kirkland, Washington-based company provides secure-by-default container images and offers more than 1,700 such images, including for AI applications. Chainguard has raised $636 million in the last six months and a total of nearly $900 million, with a previous Series D of $365 million in April when it was valued at $3.5 billion.
The latest investment will be used for go-to-market efforts, with Eyal Bar, Chainguard’s CFO, describing the funding as enabling the company to scale its commercial motion while continuing product and engineering work. SecurityWeek notes that the company also provides a catalog of secure language libraries and purpose-built VM images, highlighting its focus on securing the open source software supply chain.
