Email Security Startup AegisAI Launches With $13 Million in Funding
AegisAI, an AI-native email security startup, launched with $13 million in seed funding from Accel and Foundation Capital. Founded by Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, former Google Safe Browsing and reCAPTCHA leaders, the company aims to prevent email attacks such as phishing, malware, and business email compromise through autonomous AI agents. Its approach relies on a network of real-time agents that inspect, analyse, and neutralise threats, and the platform integrates with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
The system is designed to study all message components, including attachments, links, metadata and QR codes, and to provide autonomous response and policy enforcement with built-in encryption and data minimisation principles. According to AegisAI, the solution can lower false positives by 90% compared with traditional solutions when deployed in production environments.
The funding will be used to accelerate product development, recruit engineering talent, and expand go-to-market efforts as the platform scales, according to SecurityWeek. 11 September 2025.
