META has introduced a new Facebook Verified badge to combat fake accounts on its platform. This free badge allows users to verify their identity by recording a short face-scan selfie video, which is then compared to their profile photo. Key requirements for eligibility include being at least 18 years old and complying with Facebook's Community Standards. The badge enhances trust in interactions on features such as Marketplace and Facebook Dating but does not validate user behavior or background.
The rollout begins on July 27 in selected regions. Additionally, Facebook is testing a new full-screen video browsing mode to enhance user experience.
