China slaps 1-hour deadline on reporting serious cyber incidents

According to DataBreaches[.]Net, Beijing will require Chinese network operators to report serious cyber incidents within 60 minutes of spotting them, under the new National Cybersecurity Incident Reporting Management Measures that come into force on 1 November. The measures apply to a broad category described as “network operators,” effectively anyone who owns, manages, or provides network services. For “particularly major” events, the deadline tightens to 30 minutes.

The article notes that the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) will enforce the rules once they are in effect, with penalties for dragging feet. Read more at The Register.
