Farewell, Tabs: Google’s Experimental Disco Browser Generates Web Apps with AI

Google’s experimental Disco browser, powered by the GenTab system running on Gemini 3 models, aims to reimagine web browsing by generating interactive web applications that assist users in completing tasks. Judging from current demonstrations, Disco’s most distinctive capability lies in its ability to compose Progressive Web Apps from real-time web information, allowing users to interact with itineraries directly as a web app.

As the Google Labs development team explains, the web is a vast collection of applications and information, and Disco seeks to adapt to the complexity of modern online tasks. Built on Chromium, Disco retains traditional hyperlink navigation while Gemini handles analysis of page content, produces comparison tables, drafts plans, and more. The browser is currently available only for macOS, with access limited to a small waitlist, and cannot be downloaded for hands-on testing at present. December 12, 2025.
