AWS Bedrock Unleashed: 18 New AI Models, AgentCore Upgrades, and Enhanced Security
During the 3 December 2025 re:Invent 2025 conference, AWS unveiled the most extensive expansion of its Bedrock platform to date, adding 18 new open-weight AI models in a single release. According to AWS, the update reinforces Bedrock as a model marketplace, letting enterprises switch between models without rewriting application code.
The new models include Mistral AI’s Large 3 and the Ministral 3 family, plus Google Gemma 3, MiniMax M2, NVIDIA Nemotron, and OpenAI’s gpt-oss Safeguard, with Amazon Nova 2 variants and an Omni model for multimodal inference in preview. Nova Forge was launched as an open-training customization framework, while Nova Act reportedly achieves 90% reliability in browser-based workflow automation and is already used by Reddit and Hertz.
On the security front, GuardDuty Extended Threat Detection is generally available with broader support for EC2 and ECS workloads, and AWS Security Hub has reached General Availability to provide real-time risk analytics across multiple tools. Partnerships were highlighted, including Adobe, Sony, and WRITER leveraging Bedrock and AgentCore for autonomous capabilities and governance.
