NY: Southold Laserfiche access remains suspended after cyberattack

Access to Southold’s Laserfiche online record-keeping system remains suspended with no timeline for restoration, more than six weeks after a cyberattack forced the town offline. The town is finalising about $500,000 in security upgrades funded through a Town Board-approved bond before restoring public access, following hackers breaching servers on 24 November.

Supervisor Al Krupski and the town’s Information Technology department said they could not provide an estimated restoration date when contacted by The Suffolk Times on Monday, 12 January. Nicole Wagner notes that the public-facing Laserfiche access has yet to be restored, despite progress on the security enhancements. According to The Suffolk Times, the situation leaves residents awaiting the return of online records as the town completes its upgrades.
