$31.2 Billion Raised: Google Accelerator Reveals Massive Global Impact Report
Google has released the second edition of its Accelerator Impact Report, reviewing the outcomes of its global startup accelerator programmes since their launch in 2016. Over the past nine years, the programme has provided technical support and resources to more than 1,700 startups, developers, and social-impact organisations around the world, with alumni spanning 87 countries collectively raising $31.2 billion in funding and creating more than 109,000 jobs.
Regional data highlights Asia as the strongest performer with 318 alumni raising $12.4 billion, while Latin America houses nine unicorns and 44,600 jobs; India has more than 257 alumni employing 25,900 people; the United States and Canada have 377 alumni raising $1.8 billion and employing 8,200 people; and the Middle East and Africa accounts for 219 alumni and $2.3 billion raised.
The report emphasises three core pillars—deep-tech support, infrastructure and mentorship from Google employees, and equity-free support. According to Kevin O’Toole, Global Head of Google Accelerators, these startups are redefining what is possible across regions as they scale to global impact, from emerging markets to mature ecosystems, including examples such as smart sensors in Southeast Asia and mobile health platforms in Africa.
