Dartmouth College Confirms Data Theft in Oracle Hack
Dartmouth College confirmed a data breach involving its Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) after a zero-day attack occurred between August 9 and August 12. The breach resulted in the exfiltration of personal and financial information, including Social Security numbers, affecting nearly 1,500 residents in Maine. The Cl0p ransomware group claimed responsibility, listing over 100 victims, including other universities like Harvard and Southern Illinois University.
Dartmouth's data breach involved the public release of 226 GB of stolen files. Other organizations, such as Canon and Mazda, also reported being targeted but found no evidence of data leakage.
