Wytec Expects Significant Financial Loss Following Website Hack

Wytec International, Inc. says its website was defaced by unknown threat actors on 25 August 2025 and the site has since been taken down while it reviews its web platform and adds security measures. The site was restored from backups after the initial defacement, but attackers defaced it again, and SecurityWeek notes the site remains offline at the time of writing.

The FBI has been notified and the company has engaged forensic specialists to assist with the investigation, with Wytec also cancelling a seminar scheduled for 2 September 2025 as a result of the incident. Wytec, a Texas-based provider of gunshot detection and drug sensing solutions, says the financial losses from the incident are difficult to quantify but will likely be significant, and the company has informed the SEC of the situation according to SEC. It is unclear who is behind the attack, with Wytec stating it has received no contact from the bad actor.
