Microsoft named Gartner Leader for AI agent management platforms
Microsoft has been named a Leader in the inaugural Gartner Magic Quadrant for AI Agent Management Platforms, published on 27 October 2026 with the report dated 27 October 2026 and referenced by Microsoft on 3 November 2026. The company says the recognition reflects its approach to helping organisations manage, secure and scale AI investments through Microsoft Agent 365. Microsoft notes that more than 50 million agents have been registered in Agent 365, underscoring broad adoption across enterprises.
The firm emphasises an identity-led model, starting with Microsoft Entra Agent ID to assign each agent a unique ID, owner, purpose and appropriate access controls. This enables policies that extend existing identity and access management to agents alongside people and devices. Agent 365 is designed to work within the Microsoft stack—Entra, Defender, Purview, Intune and the 365 admin centre—and to support a broad ecosystem of agents.
Current integrations include Agentforce, Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, Databricks, Google Gemini and Google Vertex, with planned integrations for OpenAI, ServiceNow and Snowflake. The platform already supports local and cloud agents, and Microsoft is previewing discovery of unknown and cloud agents to broaden visibility. An Agent 365 Action Center is highlighted to move from alerts to prescriptive actions, such as cleaning up inactive agents, reassigning ownership and automatically blocking agents by risk. Microsoft also points to cost management, task classification and value calculation as part of its governance and risk controls.
