Cyberattack Unlikely in Communications Failure That Grounded Flights in Greece
Greece's government stated that a major radio communications failure that disrupted the country's airspace is unlikely to be a cyberattack. Fleets were grounded, diverted, or delayed after noise affected air traffic communication channels. Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis emphasized no indications of a cyberattack. The Greek Civil Aviation Authority initiated investigations, while the Air Traffic Controllers' Association called for modernization of outdated equipment. The incident was classified as serious but passenger safety was not jeopardized.
