YouTube TV’s New Subscription Bundles: Is Streaming Becoming Cable All Over Again?
YouTube TV is moving away from its single-price model to new subscription bundles called YouTube TV Plans, set to launch in early 2026. The redesign will let subscribers mix category-based bundles such as Sports, News, and Family & Entertainment to suit their interests, with pricing details yet to be revealed.
The Sports Plan is expected to include major broadcast networks and several sports channels, including the full ESPN networks, FS1 and NBC Sports Network, offering a potentially more cost-effective option for viewers focused on games. When YouTube TV first launched in 2017 it promoted itself as an all-inclusive bundle priced at $35 per month, but the subscription rose to $83 per month last year, a 137% increase.
Analysts suggest narrowing the range of included content could help lower monthly costs for selective audiences, while the existing $83 full bundle will remain available for those seeking comprehensive coverage. The piece notes that streaming providers are re-packaging channels in familiar bundles as streaming trends echo cable.
