Gcore Mitigates Record-Breaking 6 Tbps DDoS Attack
Gcore says it mitigated one of the largest DDoS attacks on record, reaching a peak bandwidth of 6 Tbps and a packet rate of 5.3 Bpps, in a short-burst volumetric flood against a gaming-sector hosting provider. The attack lasted about 30-45 seconds and was predominantly UDP, with 51% of sources in Brazil and 23.7% in the United States, together accounting for nearly three-quarters of all traffic.
The incident aligned with patterns associated with the AISURU botnet and underscores a broader trend of increasingly rapid, multi-regional assaults targeting digital infrastructure. Gcore’s defence capability was described as absorbing and neutralising the attack without service interruption, supported by its global footprint of 210+ Points of Presence and a filtering capacity surpassing 200 Tbps.
The company emphasised that adaptive protection, edge-layer filtering, and Layer 7 behavioural analysis are now mission-critical for hosting providers, enterprises, and tech organisations seeking to safeguard uptime amid evolving threats. This event mirrors insights from Gcore Radar and signals a continued evolution in botnet-powered DDoS campaigns.
