INC ransom group claimed the breach of Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance

INC ransom group claimed the breach of Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, with the group saying they have access to over 1.5 TB of data including internal mail, confidential data and budgets. Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) disclosed that threat actors likely compromised one of its computers, prompting the immediate activation of security protocols to contain the threat.

The ministry said that critical systems vital to operations remain safe and that none of the central MEF platforms were compromised. MEF did not disclose technical details of the attack, but the INC ransom group claims responsibility for the security breach and the theft of data. The ransomware gang has been active since 2023 and has previously claimed breaches at Xerox Business Solutions and McLaren Health Care.
