LIDL informed online shop customers in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands about a data breach involving personal data stolen from a third-party IT service provider. The compromised data includes names, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, and customer numbers. However, sensitive information such as passwords and payment details were not exposed.
Lidl is cooperating with authorities, having reported the incident to relevant data protection bodies, and emphasized that there is currently no evidence of data misuse. Customers are advised to be cautious of phishing attempts.
