Reliability Over Speed: MediaTek Debuts Filogic 8000 to Power the Wi-Fi 8 Revolution
At CES 2026, MediaTek announced the Filogic 8000 series as its new Wi-Fi 8 chipset platform, signalling its drive to shape the emerging Wi-Fi 8 ecosystem. The Filogic 8000 is pitched for a wide range of devices, from broadband gateways and enterprise access points to end-user gadgets such as smartphones, laptops, televisions, tablets and IoT products.
Wi-Fi 8 is described as engineered for high-density, high-load scenarios, with a focus on more stable connectivity and ultra-low latency rather than raw bandwidth alone.
The four key innovations span Multi-AP Coordination with cooperative beamforming, coordinated spatial reuse and multi-AP scheduling; Enhanced Spectral Efficiency with Dynamic Subchannel Operation and Non-Primary Channel Access; Extended Coverage with Enhanced Long Range and Distributed Resource Units; and Optimised Low Latency with smarter rate adaptation and Aggregated Physical-Layer Protocol Data Units.
According to MediaTek, the first Filogic 8000 chipset is expected to begin sampling in 2026, and the company notes it ships more than two billion connected devices annually, with early support from partners including Ruckus Networks, Buffalo, HP, ASUS, Acer, KT, Adtran, Arcadyan, and Foxconn Industrial Internet.
