Beyond the Screen: Apple’s 2027 Plan to Kill Siri and Launch an AI Pin
According to The Information, Apple is poised to debut a wearable intelligence device, described as a circular, flattened disc resembling a thicker AirTag, as early as 2027, with the long‑maligned Siri undergoing a transformation under the codename “Campos” to become a sophisticated conversational agent powered by Google Gemini.
The device, allegedly intended to be a wearable companion, is paired with a plan to launch alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, and Apple reportedly aims for an initial distribution of 20 million units. The Campos initiative would replace the current Siri interface through deep systemic integration, while Apple has publicly signalled a partnership with Google as part of a strategy to strengthen its ecosystem amidst fierce generative AI competition.
Before this, iOS 26.4 is expected to introduce AI functionalities that were originally pledged in 2024, as part of a broader shift toward ambient intelligence. The piece notes that Humane’s AI Pin failed, but Apple positions its wearable as a “sensory extension” of the iPhone, combining dual lenses and persistent audio monitoring, with privacy concerns likely to shape its reception. The report, published on 22 January 2026, also mentions Motorola’s Project Maxwell as a competing always‑on camera concept.
