CYBERCOM 2.0: Pentagon Unveils Plan to Fix Cyber Talent Shortfalls
The SecurityWeek report outlines CYBERCOM 2.0, a Pentagon plan to overhaul cyber force generation with the aim of increasing lethality and operational effectiveness for US Cyber Command. The DoW says the revised model integrates CYBERCOM with military departments to streamline recruiting, assessment, selection, training and retention, built on seven core attributes that include targeted recruiting and assessments to fit cyber work roles, incentives for domain mastery, and mission-specific training.
For immediate readiness, the model specifies headquarters and combat support, plus optimized unit phasing to sustain cyber personnel tempo. Three organisations will act as enablers: the Cyber Innovation Warfare Center, the Cyber Talent Management Organization and the Advanced Cyber Training and Education Center. The plan targets threats from major adversaries, with China named specifically in the DoW press release, and analysts have described the initiative as an altered version of the Biden-era CYBERCOM 2.0 plan.
