Tire giant Bridgestone confirms cyberattack impacts manufacturing
Tire giant Bridgestone confirmed it is investigating a cyberattack that is impacting some of its manufacturing facilities in North America. On 2 September 2025, reports surfaced about a cybersecurity incident affecting two of Bridgestone Americas’ production facilities in Aiken County, South Carolina, with Canadian media outlets reporting similar disruptions at Joliette, Quebec, the following day.
Bridgestone says its rapid response contained the attack at the early stage and that they do not believe any customer data or interfaces were compromised. Bridgestone Americas operates 50 production facilities and employs 55,000 people, accounting for roughly 43% of the Bridgestone Corporation’s total size, and in 2024 the unit delivered about $12 billion in sales and $1.2 billion in operating profit.
As of the time of writing, no ransomware groups have claimed responsibility for the incident, and BleepingComputer has been seeking clarification on whether the attack was ransomware. according to BleepingComputer
