Delta Dental of Virginia data breach impacts 145,918 customers

Delta Dental of Virginia experienced a data breach affecting approximately 146,000 customers due to the compromise of an email account. The breach exposed sensitive personal and health information, including names, Social Security numbers, and health data. The suspicious activity was detected on April 23, 2025, prompting an investigation that revealed unauthorized access to emails and attachments between March 21 and April 23, 2025. Although no evidence of misuse has been found, Delta Dental is offering 12 months of free identity protection and credit monitoring to those affected.
