Varonis Acquires Email Security Firm SlashNext

Varonis Systems has announced the acquisition of email security provider SlashNext, in a deal valued at up to $150 million including performance-based retention awards, according to SecurityWeek. SlashNext, founded in 2017 by Atif Mushtaq, uses predictive AI models to protect users from advanced spearphishing and social engineering via email and collaboration apps such as Zoom, WhatsApp, Slack and Teams.

The acquisition is described by Varonis CEO and Co-Founder Yaki Faitelson as a natural evolution of the platform that will expand the company’s total addressable market and strengthen its ability to stop threats in the inbox where many data breaches begin. SlashNext had raised more than $43 million in funding prior to the deal. The announcement was reported by SecurityWeek on 2 September 2025.
