Scattered Spider alleged members deny TfL charges
Two British teenagers connected to the Scattered Spider hacking group have pleaded not guilty to charges alleging they conspired to commit unauthorised acts against Transport for London (TfL). Thalha Jubair, 19, and Owen Flowers, 18, were arrested in September by the National Crime Agency at their homes in East London and Walsall, and both appeared at Southwark Crown Court to deny the charges. The case, brought under the Computer Misuse Act, includes allegations that the pair conspired to attack TfL.
The article notes that the DOJ announced Jubair faces charges in New Jersey for conspiracies to commit computer fraud, wire fraud and money laundering, linked to at least 120 network intrusions and extortion targeting 47 U.S. entities with victims paying over $115 million in ransom.
It is also reported that evidence linking Flowers to alleged attacks on U.S. healthcare firms emerges from his 2024 arrest, with charges including conspiring to breach SSM Health and attempting to target Sutter Health, which Flowers has denied. According to Sky News, both stood in the dock and entered not guilty pleas.
