HARMONIC Security, a workforce AI protection startup, has announced a $50 million Series B funding round, taking its total raised to $76 million. The round was led by Crosspoint Capital Partners, with continued backing from existing investors. The company, founded in 2023 by CEO Alastair Paterson and CTO Bryan Woolgar-O’Neil (who previously founded Digital Shadows), intends to deepen engineering and go-to-market efforts in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Harmonic has built a platform aimed at securing employees’ use of AI tools. Its solution covers browser-based AI, desktop AI tools, and agentic workflows, classifying every AI task, identifying its use, and providing real-time control over it. The platform leverages small language models to interpret each AI interaction in context, enabling organisations to map tasks, understand emerging use cases, and mitigate risk, including risks around personal account use and sensitive data exposure.
The company also offers a Usage Intelligence layer to surface value-driving AI use cases and improve employee workflows, advertised as using the same engine underpinning its AI protection approach.
The new funding will support Harmonic’s expansions in engineering and go-to-market activities in the US and UK, as the firm emphasises addressing both risk reduction and demonstrated value in enterprise AI deployments. Paterson argued that their focus on custom small language models provides unique enterprise insight into AI use, which informs their protection and governance capabilities.
