Ukrainian Conti Ransomware Developer Sentenced to 4 Years in US Prison

A US court sentenced Ukrainian national Oleksii Oleksiyovych Lytvynenko to four years in prison for his involvement with the Conti ransomware operation. Lytvynenko, arrested in Ireland in 2023 and extradited to the US, pleaded guilty to wire fraud, admitting to aiding in malware development and possessing stolen victim data. The Conti group, active from 2020 to 2022, targeted organizations across over 30 countries and collected at least $150 million in ransoms. Lytvynenko's sentencing follows similar cases involving other ransomware operators.
