THE Swiss Federal Office for Information Technology and Communications (FOITT) reported that hackers exploited vulnerabilities in Microsoft SharePoint to compromise approximately 200 accounts. This incident was detected on July 28, 2026, and confirmed on July 31. The FOITT has since implemented security updates, blocked external access to SharePoint, and is rebuilding the affected servers. Despite the breach, there is currently no evidence of data leakage, though investigations continue.
The vulnerability exploits are linked to a July Patch Tuesday update from Microsoft, which highlighted serious flaws in SharePoint, with one flaw allowing remote code execution. Organizations using SharePoint should promptly apply patches and rotate machine keys to prevent such attacks.
