A US court sentenced Hive ransomware affiliate Artem Stryzhak to 70 months in prison, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of computer fraud conspiracy linked to Hive and Nefilim operations. Court filings show Stryzhak joined the Nefilim group as an affiliate in June 2021, agreeing to pay the administrators a 20% share of ransom proceeds, and separately became an early Hive affiliate, deploying the ransomware against seven targets, including a healthcare provider.
The Department of Justice notes that, from June 2021 to January 2023, Hive targeted around 1,500 victims, with the FBI describing disruptions to patient care and losses exceeding $100 million. Stryzhak’s co-conspirator, Volodymyr Tymoshchuk, remains at large and is subject to an $11 million reward, with US authorities stating they remain determined to capture him. Spanish police arrested Stryzhak in June 2024, he was extradited in April 2025, and he pleaded guilty in December 2025. The State Department continues to offer up to $11 million for information on Tymoshchuk.
