This site provided high-resolution scans of IDs, including images in infrared and ultraviolet spectra, potentially allowing for the creation of counterfeit IDs that could fool advanced security measures.
The FBI is investigating the breach, which appears to have near real-time access to data from third-party scanning services used by various businesses, including a car rental company. Nexus offered a range of other ID types for sale, raising concerns about the ongoing security of personal identification data. Following the report, the Nexus site went offline, complicating efforts for victims to check if their information was compromised.
