THE Police National Legal Database (PNLD) in the UK confirmed a significant data breach that exposed the names and email addresses of police officers and justice staff, increasing their vulnerability to phishing attacks. The breach, which affected a public Q&A service named Ask the Police, was noted to be investigated by the National Crime Agency (NCA). Although the dataset containing the exact number of affected individuals has not been disclosed, the PNLD serves 108,429 police registrations.
Investigative reports suggest the breach might be linked to misconfigured Microsoft Power Pages portals. Affected individuals are advised to remain cautious of targeted phishing schemes.
