GOOGLE has officially launched Gemini 4 Argon, marking a direct move in the competitive AI model race following Meta’s Muse Wonder. The release notes that the model was initially restricted to sovereign governments under the Fairwind Program and to trusted partners with strong cybersecurity defences.
It has since been integrated into the Gemini API and Google’s Antigravity agentic software development platform, and is now available to general consumers for a monthly fee of either $20 via Google AI Pro or $100 for Ultra.
A notable strategic shift is Google’s decision to bypass Gemini 3.5 Pro and leap straight to Gemini 4 Argon, which is pitched as capable of handling complex, cross-disciplinary tasks—from financial analysis and large-scale software engineering to code generation, creative writing, and cybersecurity defence. Independent evaluations are cited as placing Gemini 4 Argon on a par with OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra in the Intelligence Index benchmark.
The article highlights a disruptive pricing strategy: during a promotional period until 30 November, the API is offered at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with standard pricing of $4 and $20 thereafter. On the user experience side, Google emphasises faster responses, reduced defensive phrasing, and the ability for the model to continue thinking while answering.
The Antigravity platform is embedded into the macOS Gemini App, signalling a deeper integration of AI agents into developers’ local environments and a direct challenge to GitHub Copilot.
