The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has added two new items to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog: Google Brotli and Adobe Commerce and Magento flaws.

The Brotli entry, CVE-2026-111497, carries a CVSS score of 9.2 and is described as an unchecked return value in Google’s Brotli library that could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to corrupt memory, expose sensitive information, cause a denial of service, or potentially execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted Brotli-compressed stream.

The second entry, CVE-2026-48356 (PolyShell), with a CVSS of 9.3, is an unrestricted file upload vulnerability in Adobe Commerce and Magento that could enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the current user, potentially gaining elevated access or taking control of a victim’s account or session. Evidence cited notes exploitation attempts targeting CVE-2026-111497, including a public exploit in traffic observed by EllIo researchers, and reports of widespread use in cloud environments.

The KEV inclusion highlights ongoing campaigns against Magento installations. Sansec has warned of attacks exploiting CVE-2026-48356 to compromise at least 953 online stores, with attackers using a Magento CMS block to insert a malicious loader that retrieves a payload hosted under the attackers’ control; the ultimate payload remains undetermined.

CISA directs federal agencies to remediate the vulnerabilities by deadlines outlined in Reducing the Significant Risk of Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (BOD 22-01), requiring actions by 29 October 2026, while private organisations are advised to review the KEV catalog and address affected infrastructure accordingly.
