- Tue 27 Oct, 19:04 UTC. DataBreaches, first report. Ransomware attack disrupts Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital. This article, 1st of 1.
Lokmat Times Desk reports that Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital was hit by a cyberattack in the early hours of 3 a.m., when all nine hospital servers were compromised and data was encrypted, disrupting essential operations and patient care. The incident, described as a digital heist aimed at extortion, left the Hospital Management System (HMIS) and other systems unresponsive after a night shift, with “access denied” shown on all servers and no firewall functionality available.
The attackers allegedly warned that the ransom would rise if authorities were notified and threatened to publish the hospital’s data on a Tor leak site, identifying a group calling itself the “Crypto 24” gang as the culprit.
Prashant Pande, the hospital’s IT head, reportedly found the HMIS link and related systems offline as part of the breach, which occurred during the hospital’s night operations on 18 October. The breach appears to have targeted the hospital’s digital infrastructure at multiple points, resulting in encrypted files and impeding routine activities such as patient billing.
The Lokmat Times report frames the incident as a targeted ransomware attack with extortion demands and potential data leakage if pressure is applied to authorities. The full details and any ongoing investigation are linked to Lokmat Times for further verification.
