ANUBIS ransomware group targeted the Adriatic Port Authority, resulting in a warning over maritime security vulnerabilities. This cyber-attack, which occurred in December 2025 but was reported in June 2026, compromised about 2% of the port's data, notably including contracts and sensitive safety plans. The group demanded a $10 million ransom in Bitcoin and was believed to have gained access via spear-phishing emails.
Resecurity's analysis highlighted the reliance on outdated IT systems in maritime operations, which makes them increasingly vulnerable to ransomware threats, underlining a significant concern for the industry's digital maturity as threats are expected to grow.
