TWO men, Ruben Ian Thomson and Louis Michael Gaebler, have been arrested in Australia for alleged involvement with the cybercrime group TeamPCP, which is linked to significant financial damages estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Thomson faces multiple charges for computer hacking and money laundering, potentially facing up to 20 years in prison, while Gaebler's hacking charges could result in a 5-year sentence.
The group is accused of exploiting major software supply chains to steal over 500,000 corporate credentials and exfiltrating 300 GB of data from more than 1,000 organizations globally. Australian authorities are continuing to investigate, with potential for further arrests.
