Ashish Shrestha, then CISO of JLR, emphasized this action to ensure identity trust post-breach, stating it was crucial to verify the integrity of staff communications. The attack led to halted production and sales, costing the UK economy £1.9 billion (approximately $2.55 billion) and affecting over 5,000 organizations in its supply chain. The cybercriminal group Scattered Spider was behind the attack, which was noted as the costliest in the UK.
